Children's Ministries

Nursery
(Children 3 years old and younger) Children are invited to enjoy a safe, secure and well equipped environment. The nursery is located on the same level as the Sanctuary. At the present time, the nursery is not staffed.

Place of Grace
(Preschool through grade 6) What is it? Workshop Rotation Model (WoRM) is a new model for Sunday School which uses experiential learning in order to accommodate children’s different intelligences.

How does it work?

• Classrooms are redesigned into creative, media-inspired, kid-pleasing workshops that teach Bible stories. Our workshops are located downstairs and are called Artful Expressions; Noah’s Arcade; Mary’s and Joseph’s; and The Potting Shed. We also use the kitchen for cooking and the Parish Hall for group projects. Activities in these workshops can include: art, drama, music, audiovisuals, Bible games, cooking, storytelling, and puppets.
• Classes or groups rotate to new workshops each week for 3 or 4 weeks. Workshop teachers do not rotate. They stay put in the workshop, repeating the lesson to a new group of children each week.
• During that 3 or 4-week period only one Bible story is taught. The entire rotation – every workshop, every week – is focused on learning that one Bible story.

Why use it?

• WoRM respects the language of the child – play.
• WoRM offers the opportunity to utilize the parish’s giftedness.
• WoRM allows children who can’t attend every week not to miss the impact of the story.
• WoRM involves more people in the education ministry.
